Vancouver Island Wedding Video | Crystal and Joe | Private Property Wedding, Vancouver Island, BC

“Some of us have even managed to build a great love with someone special. Maybe it started as a blind date set up by a comment made by a comment to a cousin of a good-looking guy. Maybe. Maybe you went ice skating together while listening to endless love in the dark. Maybe. I don’t know all of your stories. But I know Joe and Crystal’s. And I know that it started with Joe being late for his first date with Crystal. Because of hockey.”

Can you feel the emotion, the excitement, and the fun already? We could feel it the moment we arrived at Joe and Crystal’s family property where the wedding was taking place. They and their family had worked so hard and had truly transformed a great backyard into an awesome wedding venue, complete with a gorgeous ceremony spot and an incredible tent for the outdoor reception. There were snack stations, a photobooth, a lounge, and a couple of beautiful desserts all on display when we arrived, and we couldn’t wait for the rest of the day to unfold!

We talk a lot on our blog and with our couples about finding ways to tell your story. And there are so many great ways to do that - in letters to each other, in speeches, in your vows, and even in the details throughout the day. But, another awesome way to share and celebrate your story is to invite an officiant or celebrant who will get to know you and will share your story as part of the ceremony. We LOVE it when this happens. There are many celebrants and officiants out there who will work with you ahead of time to plan out a ceremony that is customized just for you. One bonus about this is that the ceremony will be crafted around your lives together, and it will celebrate not just you, but all the people around you who made your wedding day a reality. But another bonus is that by the time you get to your ceremony, you’ll know your officiant so well that it’ll be like having a friend perform your ceremony: comfortable, natural, and fun.

Brian, from Young Hip & Married, did an incredible job at Crystal and Joe’s wedding, and he made the ceremony wonderfully personal, and that made it easy for us to put together a perfectly personal film.
