Documentary Films

Telling a great story starts long before the cameras come out, and creating an environment of trust and friendship is where we start with any documentary project. We hope our films will have an impact and help make our community a better place.

Our documentary films inspire and inform all the other films we create, and all the other films we create inspire and inform our documentary films. We’ve worked on a short film for True Calling, a Storyhive-funded film (recently featured at the Friday Harbour Film Fest), and more. In every project, but especially our documentary films, we’re looking for those candid, natural moments that just make you feel all the feels.

Sustainably Wed (2022)

Sustainably Wed is a 7-part documentary series that explores ways to make the event and wedding industries more sustainable. Funded by Telus’ Storyhive Program and available on Telus Optik TV (Channel 8), on the Telus Originals Youtube channel, and on a dedicated Sustainably Wed Youtube channel, this series features over 30 wedding vendors from all parts of the industry

Make The Impossible, Possible (2022)

Help Fill A Dream, a Vancouver-Island based charity that supports children and families dealing with life-threatening and critical illnesses, turned 35 years old in 2021. This documentary, which follows the journeys of several of the children and families involved in the organization, tells the story of how the organization came to be and the impact it’s had on the community over the past 35 years.

Ry Williams Levitates Dinosaurs (2018)

How do you become a dinosaur levitator? It turns out there isn’t really a course for that - you have to forge your own path. Ry Williams did just that. This short-doc for True Calling Media was voted in the Top 10 films that year by the jury for the granting agency.

Tuned Up (2019)

Touring across Canada as a musician is tough enough - the drives are hard, the days are long, and the industry isn’t an easy one. But what if you also want to tour without a big carbon footprint? In that case, you’d better hope you have someone like Pat Ferguson in your band. Tuned Up follows Pat as he converts a 1970s bus to run on used veggie oil, a choice that will help his band Carmanah tour in style … but it isn’t as easy as just pouring french fry oil in the bus and hoping for the best.

Let’s Work Together

Are you interested in working with us on a documentary project? Maybe it’s a history of your company or organization, or maybe it’s a story that just needs to be told. Either way, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We take on a limited number of documentary projects per year, but we’re always open to a new story and a new challenge!
