We take a fly-on-the-wall approach and typically focus on creating a day-in-the-life style film. This might mean making dinner together and then walking down the beach, or it can be something totally different. Some films feature an interview with parents or kids, while others focus on an activity or milestone.
Philosophy
Don’t you sometimes wish you could preserve a moment in time? We work with families to create mini-documentaries that are candid, genuine snapshots into real life. We focus on unscripted, unposed moments because those are the ones that last. We want all the laughs, hugs, and snuggles.
A family documentary is the perfect way to freeze a moment in time - maybe it’s just before you welcome a new baby into the family, maybe it’s before the kids start school, or maybe it’s your grandma’s 90th birthday and you want to capture all the family in one place. Whatever that moment is, it’s fleeting, and we’d love to capture it so that you can relive and look back on it for years to come.
Style
It might feel a little strange inviting a videographer to follow you around for a day, but don’t worry - we make the process easy and relaxed! Before filming we work to get to know you and your family so that everyone is comfortable before the cameras come out. When we’re filming, we keep our gear minimal and our footprint small in order to help everyone feel comfortable, or maybe they don’t even notice us at all!
In our editing, we focus on the candid, genuine moments - we aren’t looking for the perfectly staged shot, but instead we’re looking to share the big hugs, the unscripted laughs, and those moments that you just can’t plan for. That means we’re a good fit for families who want to capture a day in the life with all its imperfections, but we aren’t a good fit for families looking for an overly scripted or heavily styled film. Think more pyjama party pillow fights than matching outfits on top of a mountain.
